New Addition

For those of you who haven't heard yet, we have a new member of our family. Meet Kat. Yes Kat. Surprisingly, we didn't name this guy, he came attached with this handle already fixed. For Rose who names her favourite stuffed dog "Doggy"and new sheep from a very favourite friend(thanks BA), "Sheepy" and Lily who's favourite toy cat is "Kitty", this name seems to be perfect. However, we've experimented with "Kitty cat, Pussy cat, Cutie Pie Cat, or my suggestion Cat-cher (as in mice ..hopefully), or Cat-astrophe, Cat-egory...open to suggestions here although "Cat" seems to have stuck.
We adopted him by accident from a neighbour who was moving back to England with his mom and two blind dogs. There is apparently a 6 month quarantine on animals entering the country and so the cat (originally a stray that showed up at his house),was going to be left behind... We heard about this through another neighbour who was in charge of looking for a home for the misplaced cat, and had a conversation about it all during a visit there one afternoon. Later that evening as we were getting kids ready for bed, our neighbours show up with cat howling in tow, asking us to take him for a trial as the lady looking after him had not been by to feed him for a few days.....the rest is history. He is a sweet, patient cat. He lets the kids hold him and pat him without fuss. Isn't he pretty...or should I say handsome. Chris finally has another male to take his side in the household. But so far this cat's pretty smart and keeps quiet...he knows who feeds him!
And speaking of Chris...the other day he came in the house from doing...something ...outside with these flowers he'd picked by the driveway for me. Wasn't that sweet? And aren't they nice? I'm not sure what they are but they are really tall and grow in a corner of my veggie garden..however these ones have escaped the fenced-in garden and are making their way down the driveway to freedom.

What a nice guy eh? ?
Now if only he would cook more....

Yes, what a guy! Be careful what you ask for, though. I got a cook who RARELY brings me flowers. Maybe we can send the guys on a weekend together and see if they can influence each other.
And Mahalia has a stuffed cat named Catastrophe!
